Means Presents at TMC 2017 Transmission Symposium in Shanghai

SHANGHAI, China—Friday April 21, 2017 —Means Industries Inc. was featured as one of the presenters at the 2017 Transmission Symposium China on Friday April 21, 2017, where VP of Marketing Mike Doherty gave his presentation entitled “World’s 1st Production Selectable One-Way Clutch for AT”.

The 9th Transmission Symposium China was held on April 20-21, 2017. Over 30 exhibitors and representatives from top global drivetrain companies were on hand to discuss technologies and strategies with other automotive experts from across the world in advance of the start of the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show.

“It was an honor to introduce Means’ mechanical clutching solutions for the NEV market to this distinguished group of industry leaders at TMC 2017,” said Mike.

The fast growth of vehicle electrification and hybridization has been leading to a proliferation of drivetrain architectures across vehicle platforms, and will greatly influence future transmission and powertrain design.

In the context of China’s decade-long subsidy program for NEVs to be phased out after 2020, the Chinese government is preparing new regulations and standards for further encouraging NEV and energy-saving vehicle development, with corporate average fuel consumption (CAFC), NEV credits, and the upgrade of (P)HEV fuel consumption testing standards all playing a role.

These changes are creating unprecedented challenges for automotive companies in China in their transmission and drive technology road map decisions, R&D and engineering while opening many new avenues for innovation.
